All About Our Menu's

This is a sample of what our menu entails. We change it up so children can learn to like and try new foods. I use the Canadian Food Guide to help plan our meals and snacks to maintain a healthy balance. We eat all meals and snacks together to encourage a positive eating environment.

During meal and snack preparation, I like to encourage children to join in and help. I feel in doing so, it makes children more interested in trying new foods and helps them learn about different food and how it's made. It also builds early math skills too!

We try and buy locally grown fruit and vegetables as much as possible. It's important to know where your food is from, but it also gives us tons of field trip oppurtunities! We love going to pick our own apples, pumpkins, beans, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and pretty much everything and anything that grows under the sun!

 

We also like to enjoy special treats!


Our Menu

* All meals are given with milk, and at snack time they can choose between milk, homemade juice, water

Monday

Breakfast: Pancakes, sausage, strawberries

Snack: Yogurt, muffin

Lunch:  Mashed potatoes, ham, corn, bread

Snack: Apple chunks, cheese


Tuesday

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, bacon, oranges, toast

Snack: Raisin toast, apple sauce

Lunch: Pork, rice, greek salad, bread

Snack: Graham crackers, nutella, bananas


Wednesday

Breakfast:  French toast, pears

Snack: Mini bagels, cream cheese, strawberries

Lunch:  Spaghetti and meatballs, ceaser salad, garlic bread

Snack: Veggies and dip (carrots, celery, red/green peppers, broccoli, cucumber, cauliflower)


Thursday

Breakfast: Cheese omelet (eggs, ham, green pepper) toast,  grapes

Snack: Yogurt, gold fish crackers

Lunch:  Roasted potatoes, plum chicken, green beans, bread

Snack: Homemade fruit salad (pineapple, mango, bananas, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries)

 

Friday

Breakfast: Oatmeal, bacon, peaches

Snack: Crackers, cream cheese, strawberries, kiwis

Lunch:  Mashed potatoes, roast beef, carrots, bread

Snack: Apple cinnamon bread, grapes
